The Supervisor Training Program is for mental health professionals who provide supervision for their colleagues. Effective January 1, 2005, LPCs who provide supervision for LLPCs needing to meet licensure requirements must have received training in supervision. In 2012 Rules were passed specifying that this supervisor training must be 30 contact hours or 2 graduate-level credits and must include topics specified by the Michigan Board of Counseling.  The Advanced Supervisor Training Program meets these requirements and has been designed for LPCs and other mental health professionals who want to make supervision a part of their practice and who are seeking a complete, comprehensive program designed to help them become effective supervisors.

The Advanced Supervisor Training Program at the Mentoring Institute is designed for Licensed Professional counselors and other mental health supervisors. The goals of this program are to assist potential supervisors 1) to understand: a) models of supervision; b) roles, functions qualities and competencies of supervisors; c) effective supervision techniques; d) counselor scope of practice, supervision requirements for licensure and other legal issues; e) administrative issues in supervision; and 2) to develop a competent and ethical practice in supervision.
